my first stage was Luxor, former capital of Egypt (looooong ago) lunch at my taxi driver's place: a big plate is put in the middle, everybody takes a spoon and just picks from all bowls Mahmoud, my taxi driver, with his daughter and his sheesha the valley of the kings (not very exciting from outside) ...
... and one of the ubiquitous guards. If you feel safer with armed guards in plain clothes, I am not sure. in one of the tombs where taking photos is, of course, not allowed the Temple of Hatshepsut, where terrorists kill more than 60 people in 1997... ... and that's why there are now armed guards all over the place

Each day at 11, the invading troops from Hurghada arrive and occupy all sights in Luxor some of the pillars in the Great Hypostyle Hall in Karnak, all about 30 m high and impressive
taking rest on one of the huge pillars. You could just sit there and be impressed by the size of them. Privet Sibiri! Kak dela?
